Creative! Fun! Educational! Inspirational!
Creative Caterpillar classes are carefully structured and each week we introduce fun educational themes i.e. colours, shapes, numbers, animals using a wide variety of art materials and mediums.
The weekly classes are designed for children from 1 to 5 years old. The preschool children get to have "hands-on" experience by creating a masterpiece each week, for example;making model animals with different modelling mediums, splash painting, printing with sponges or rollers, and much more.
The babies and toddlers have the opportunity to discover different textures, and the joy of exploring and developing new sensations together. These sessions are focussed on developmental play, plus, making special artworks with your baby and toddler to take home, play with and treasure for ever.
And they get to join in with circle time where we sing some songs and discover different textures and messy play.
Our classes are run in a friendly and informal manner so you can be safe in the knowledge that your child, and maybe you too will learn about different creative techniques and artistic creations in a stimulating and secure environment.
We start classes with 'Circle Time', sitting on the floor and usually welcome everybody with our “Creative Caterpillars” song. Then discover more about the creative activities they will be offered in that session.
Every class follows a similar format as children like the familiarity and routine. As children progress through the age groups, they are challenged to be more independent and use greater levels of skill when doing the activities.
Classes usually include a maximum of 12 children making them more personal and comfortable.
We have a wide range of exciting and creative themes, visuals and mediums that we introduce throughout the sessions to aid children’s learning, enjoyment and understanding of the theme of the week.
Class programmes are carefully planned to each specific age group and are fast moving so there is no time to get bored!
Parents and carers play a very important role at Creative Caterpillars! Your child will be looking to you for encouragement and praise so you are actively encouraged to join in and have fun with your child – the more enthusiastic you are, the more likely it is that your child will enjoy the class.
Not every child will be able to concentrate for the full hour of the class and we wouldn't expect them to. It may take a few weeks for your child to “‘settle in” but once they become familiar with the class format, new surroundings and mixing with the other children they usually participate with great enthusiasm!
